A 24-year-old man was killed and another man wounded at midday Friday in a residential stretch of the West Carrollton neighborhood.
Authorities also announced Friday that a 33-year-old man shot Wednesday evening about half a mile away, in the same neighborhood, died from his wounds early Thursday.
The most recent homicide took place Friday about 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Cambronne and Spruce streets.
There, police found two young men who had been shot. One victim, who age was not released, was lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a New Orleans police news release. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.
The other victim, a 24-year-old man, lay in a narrow alleyway between two shotgun homes. He was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.
A police spokeswoman declined to comment at the scene. The department released no other details about the incident. No motive or information on possible suspects was immediately available.
Just two days earlier, homicide detectives knocked on door and scoured the same neighborhood. Two men were wounded in shootings Wednesday night near the intersection of Green and Hollygrove streets.
Kevin Jarrow died from gunshot wounds at 3 a.m. Thursday at University Hospital, according to John Gagliano, the coroner's chief investigator.
Paramedics rushed Jarrow to the hospital shortly after the 5:30 p.m. shooting. At the time of the gunfire, Jarrow was hanging out with his friend Burnell Brock, 23, who was also shot dead shortly later.
Brock was found beside a house in the nearby 9000 block of Green Street three hours after Jarrow shooting, said Tony Savoy, Jarrow's stepbrother.
NOPD spokeswoman Officer Shereese Harper said Friday that investigators are treating Jarrow's shooting and the discovery of Brock's body as separate incidents.
Jarrow leaves behind three children, ages 10, 8 and 7, Savoy said. He was an automobile mechanic, raising the children mostly on his own, Savoy said.
In an unrelated case, the coroner's office released the identity Friday of a man killed days earlier in Central City.
Julius Hills, 21, was shot about 2 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Third and Dryades streets. He was pronounced dead a short while later at University Hospital, according to police.
