A man with a gunshot wound to the leg was transported by paramedics?from a dorm?on Xavier University’s campus to?a hospital shortly after midnight.?The victim’s?condition?was not known.

It is unclear if the man is a student at Xavier, but students gathered outside the dorm?to watch the scene were calling him by name.

The shooting occurred in the 7700 block of Olive Street, said New Orleans Police spokeswoman Jonette Williams. She said two people were sitting inside of a vehicle at that location when they were approached by an unknown suspect who shot one of them in the leg.
