NOPD investigating murder in eastern New Orleans

The first occurred in eastern New Orleans about 8:30 p.m.
Officers responding to a call of a shooting in the 7800 block of Shamrock Drive, near the corner of Curran Road, found a 21-year-old man in the driver's seat of a car, suffering from several gunshot wounds, said officer Jonette Williams, an NOPD spokeswoman.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
Detective Michael McCleery is in charge of the investigation.
About 45 minutes later, police were investigating a shooting across the river in Algiers that turned fatal. Fourth District officers found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head in the 1700 block of Hero Boulevard, off L.B. Landry Boulevard.
The man, whose identity was not available, died by the time he arrived at the Interim LSU Public Hospital, Williams said.
Detective Melanie Dillion is leading the investigation.
Police were not able to identify any motives or suspects in either killing late Saturday.
